“Canada: The Rockies to the Badlands”. Chris and Keith Buxton open our season with their sixth visit to Canada, landing in Vancouver and driving to Alberta and back, with great scenic journeys, ancient fossils, railways, and indigenous tribes!

“Lake Como”. Val Fillingham picks up on last season’s talk: “Villas and Gardens”, and using local transport shows us other places to see in lakeside towns and their surroundings.
Wednesday 24th October 2018
Tonight we go “To Eritrea & Ethiopia with John Pilkington”. John follows the route of a Victorian rescue mission, travelling partly on foot with a donkey, enjoying the boisterous and charming people and comparing Ethiopia then and now.

Zoe Barker is an adventurous, independent traveller of “Roads less Travelled” tonight in “Botswana, Zambia and Namibia”. Fasten your seat belts for a bumpy ride, as we are taken on adventures to parts of Africa rarely visited by tourists.

Mo Holland is on a journey to “Russia’s Arctic East of Murmansk”, a region between Arctic summers and Polar nights. She discusses the spread of the Russian Orthodox Church and recent happenings: Arctic convoys and Gulag horrors.

Tonight is our popular Members’ Evening with 3 more volunteers:
• John Atherton takes us “Visiting the Azores”,
• Ann McCarthy sends us “Post cards from the Isles of Scilly” and
• David Stretch entertains & enlightens us with a visit to “Milwaukee: the Cream City of America’s Dairyland.”
These destinations are all new to the club.

We start the New Year with Les and Pauline Mason giving us “A Personal Perspective of Peru.” They explore Inca trails, Rain forest, and a unique culture on a journey devised by them with local guides to help.

Steuart and Anita Kellington ask the question in their title “Norway; the world’s most beautiful country?" To help us answer it they visit the Hardangerfjord, use the Flam Railway and take us to the spectacular Lofoten Islands.

David & Julie Swift enjoy a self drive trip to explore and discover some different and surprising places in Spain and Portugal.
They explore “Castles, Cathedrals, Palaces and much more.”
